Today, as I’m in the middle of a major overhaul of my\u00a0Game Shows To Go<\/a>\u00a0website (it’s not changed yet – so if you click that link you’ll see the old site), I’m very grateful that in the mid 90’s I learned the basics of HTML – the language that web pages are coded (written) in.<\/p>\n

While there are a lot of tools, such as Squarespace.com (this site is hosted on Squarespace), WordPress, DreamWeaver (what I use), FrontPage, and dozens of other programs that help you make websites easily, there is almost always a time that it helps me to know the basics of what the underlying code means.<\/p>\n

Don’t get me wrong. I’d have a hell of a time creating a website totally from scratch with only code, but having the base education makes using the more advanced tools easier.<\/p>\n

My first website was created for me in 1994 by my good friend Fred Rosenbaum. It was written completely in notepad. I took it over in 1996 and created it in Microsoft Publisher. Check out the\u00a0WayBack Web Archives of the sites<\/a>\u00a0– it’s pretty hilarious. At the time though I was one of the first to have video on my website using “RealVideo” – remember that!<\/p>\n

The magic website is due for a major update\/upgrade, but we’ll have to take it one step at a time.<\/p>\n

Until then… HTML – I salute you and I’m glad when this internet thing started, I had to learn to speak your language. It helps me every day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
