I will also point out that I am NOT a paid spokesman – I just like their product.

Without them, I doubt that I’d be doing this 100 Days of Gratitude project. Well… maybe I’d be doing it, but I wouldn’t be writing more than the 140 characters that my twitter account allows. Their simple interface makes it easy to write a blog and to update my website. The website you’re on now is hosted on squarespace.com

I will admit that I know more than most do (and not nearly as much as some do) about web sites. My first website in 1992 was written in notepad using html coding by hand.

The next step was using Microsoft Publisher, then FrontPage, then DreamWeaver (which is what I currently use when not on squarespace.com). I understand a lot of what the </> type stuff means and does and that helps me when I’m trying to micromanage a detail about a website. I currently own 40 domains.

The cool thing about Squarespace is that I don’t HAVE to know any of that.

I spent two hours today working on this site. Two hours. In that time I got social links active, a stream for my twitter feed set up, embedded video, added a google voice link, created from scratch headers for each page and more.

A total of 8 pages in the structure. If I had tried to do that in Dreamweaver, upload the files via FTP, then decided to change any of the look, it would have taken all day long to do.

They have great management tools to let you see where your traffic is coming from, how many hits you’re getting, and even solutions for SEO, which is important to all webmasters.

Plus, they have an iPhone app, and I hear that and iPad app is on the way. I’ve not used either though.

Finally, I’m grateful that they support my friends Brian Brushwood and Justin Robert Young with their podcast NSFW on the TWIT network as sponsors. The link at the top of the page is to the NSFW page to remind me to use that link.

You should give Squarespace a try. It’s free for 14 days, so jump in and play with the tools. You’ll have fun and in no time at all, you’ll be a master.

So today I’m grateful for squarespace.com.
