Day 71 – My youngest son Nicholas
My youngest son, Nicholas.
Nicholas is 17 and a very, very talented and funny young man. I’m proud to be his Daddy.
Nicholas is one of the funniest kids I know. Kim would say he clearly he takes after his mother. He is a talented guitar player with a passion for rock and roll from the era that I grew up listening to.
He’s a member of two bands “Organized Chaos” (formerly Glayden) and “Grounded” (named in his “honor” as he seems to spend a lot of time grounded). You can see a video of him below playing with Organized Chaos on our back porch
He’s the tall, skinny lefty with the Arctic White Fender Stratocaster with the Maple Neck playing lead guitar.
He is a naturally talented musician and can play guitar by ear. He’ll pick up an instrument he’s never played before, mess with it for a minute or two, then he’s play something musical on it, whereas, if I pick it up it sounds like someone beating on an instrument. He plays guitar, bass, drums, and saxophone. The guitar is his strong suit. It’s probably the 1-2 hours every day that he spends playing it.
His two bands tied for third place in the Liberty Hill’s Got Talent contest.
He’s currently a Junior at Liberty Hill High School. He plays Saxophone in the high school band and has tried out as Section leader (which gets announced tomorrow – so watch for an update) for his senior year. He excels in band and history and he’s especially passionate about music and the military.
Since he was a little kid he’s had a big heart, a love for animals and a wickedly funny sense of humor. He currently has 3 pet chickens that provide the family with fresh eggs and he takes care of them every day without having to be told. He’s excited about politics and very happy that he’ll be able to vote in the next presidential election.
He’s currently leaning towards joining the Marine Corps after graduation. He’d love to make a living as a musician but recognizes that’s a hard way to make it in the world.
**Update… since the original article posted it was announced that he is “Field Captain” for next year.
